Dhampirs
You MUST pm me before making one of these.
The half-blood result from the union of vampire male and human female. They are extremely rare, not because it is hard for the egg to be fertilised but because it is very hard for that zygote (fertilised egg) to be viable. Nearly all are rejected by the mother's body because it sees the father's genes as a threat. Dhampir twins are a miracle inside a miracle because only a handful have existed since the dawn of their race. They cannot exceed their parents in terms of strength, speed etc, so those who set out to kill their father rarely succeed. Some reject their vampire heritage and either become hunters or live a normal (if really long) life. They are said to be the instruments of fate, every single one. Chosen to protect, guide and nurture mankind. An ancient forgotten civilisation called them the Twilight Ones, both honouring and naming their heritage, they believed dhampirs kept the balance in the world. Their powers gets passed on to their children but it gets weaker and weaker with each generation until there is only one or two genes in a human. Often it is those vampire genes that are the genius, courage, leadership etc of a few people. When vampire genes work in a human they truly work.
The powers of a dhampir vary a great deal, they can have all, some or none of their father's powers and all, some or none of their weaknesses. So you could get a dhampir who is basically human or one who is basically a vampire, both of these are as rare as twins. Being children of an immortal and mortal, undead and alive, they are both mortal and immortal, they do not need blood to survive like their father but they do thirst for it and blood is what gives them eternal life. They age normally until the end of puberty (which is like normal puberty but the powers of their vampire DNA become better as they physically and mentally mature). At the age of eighteen their aging stops if they drink blood and, if not, they age one year for every five to ten years. The time is variable with each dhampir, giving an average mortal dhampir 400-800 years to live. They often have unnatural eye colours and this can change when their vampireness asserts itself. Their fangs are retractable.
Most if not all try to pass off as human as often as possible, having found that this is the easiest and safest method to survive. Though one cannot be turned into a dhampir and must be born this way, every last one needs a mentor in order to have even the slightest chance of survival in their otherwise long lives.
Dhampirs are the source of hunter weapons, something to do with the mixture of vampire and human DNA gives a handfull what could be called "magic". It isn't like the books, all spells and rituals, they can feel the flow of the earth and manipulate the energy, can sense life and death which is how all can identify vampires and werewolves on sight. Those that can manipulate the flow of energy can usually channel an element into a weapon, only one or two an generation (and one generation is usually about 200 years for dhampirs) can summon that energy straight into form, fire, water, air, earth, light or dark.
Vampires
Vampires, the legendary creatures of the night, the top of the food chain. Their origins are unknown and many theories exist, that the vampire virus was originally contagious and originated in hell, that they are the spawn of a demon or, for the most crazy of humans out there, aliens.
A vampire will retain his or her human appearance with only a few slight adjustments: all recent injuries and illnesses will be healed, they will become very pale and slightly cool to the touch [unless they have fed recently], they grow fangs, their nails and eyes develop a specific shine. To humans they can appear to be physically perfect -albeit pale- and they are, in most cases, automatically attracted to them. If the vampire so wishes, their bite is incredibly pleasurable.
To make matters worse for their prey they are incredibly fast - so fast that human eyes cannot see them when they use their full speed - and they have the strength to snap two or three steel cables. They get faster and stronger with age, however. Direct sunlight is like a sedative to them, the become very tired and weak as humans, after about 7 hours the sun starts to burn then like an open flame, the oldest can last all day in the sun and master vampires arent weakened by the sun either.
Holy relics do nothing unless the vampire believe absolutely in that god. Not being able to cross streams and only an invitation to enter private property is complete myth, something vampires inserted into their mythology to make humans feel better and safer. However there are dhampir "spells" to keep vampires out and consecrated ground makes them feel uncomfortable seeing as they are the walking dead. Vampire males can also have children but whether this is a weakness or strength is variable - many vampires have been killed by their child. Stakes to the heart will not kill them but will hurt newer vampires almost to unconsciousness, when they are often set ablaze or beheaded by hunters. In very old vampires, a stake to the heart will only piss them off. Ways of destroying them exist and vary.
Vampires are a hierarchical race like a royal court, with a Master on the top step of the ladder. Under this Master, the others come according to age and power, mostly. Young vampires are like teenagers, guided when needed but often left to find their own way. Newborns and fledglings are guarded and taught as this is the most vulnerable period - their powers and cravings are untested and unnatural to them. Dhampirs are seen as abominations, dirt are are hated and treated with disgust by most vampires.
One can only become a vampire. The sire - the vampire who turns another - must drain the childe - the one who is turned - close to the point of death, then feed the childe with their own blood. The childe's body will then die, once the blood has been absorbed, and come back to life as a vampire soon after. It isn't a matter of days, but more of minutes. The sire then has full responsibility for their childe.
Werewolves
Werewolves, the ferocious creatures of legend. They are massive and when shifted into the classic two legged man-wold can go toe to toe with vampires, however in their human for they are about half as strong and fast as their shifted self.
Their origins are as cryptic as vampires but they are easier to make. Their bites and scratches contain the were virus and on the rise of the next full moon the first shift starts, this is very dangerous and unpredictable, most responsible werewolves keep tainted humans close so as to minimalise the casualties, these take years to control the change. Weres can also be born, either to another werewolf or a human.
Weres are pack creatures like wolves, the alphas are the kings and queens and they are very territorial. Purebloods are the royalty and turned the bottom of the pack. Half human weres are seen in the same light as vamps see half vampires, half werewolves are every bit as strong as full weres.
Were wolves get very agitated during the full moon, it is the massive surge of chemicals and emotions that trigger the change in the undisciplined, you can say they are unstable and extremely horny at these times but once controlled weres can shift as they pleased. They are also deathly allergic to silver, this reduces their regeneration powers and so many hunters see them as being easier to kill than vampires.
Humans
Humans, kinda of self explanatory. Those weak deluded flawed creatures of destruction. They also have great potential as seen by the world nowadays.
Hunters are still human but most are at the greatest physical peak of human potential due to intense training, the most famous lines use dhampir made weapons that have effects on all supernatural creatures (has to be specially made for that creature, a weapon who can hurt two or more species is extremely rare and valuable, you are unlikely to just find one).
Werepyre
A cross of the Vampire and Werewolf gene. The two things that effect them most are Wolves bane and of course the stake to the heart. They have eyes that change based on their mood and often can have different powers. The downfall is that their Blood lust is so high they tend to be found and caught.
They eat human food and actually need to feed more often then vampires. For this race you must transfer blood to be sired. It used to be taboo to be one because they once believed that the two genes would clash and destroy anything made. They are able to have children however a child made by them tends to age like a human untill the age of seventeen.
It is still very unclear on most things about them.
